What to Expect
- Skin is numbed by applying a topical anesthetic to minimize the discomfort. We also provide instruction for you to pre-numb at home.
- During the procedure the upper layer of dermis is modified to trigger the body's own natural healing and rejuvenation.
- Many such points of bloodless thermal micro-injury are created resulting in a symmetrical grid pattern over the treated area.
- Treatment of one area takes between 30 and 60 minutes, plus numbing and evaluation time.
- Skin is visibly lifted and tightened immediately after the procedure, however is covered with the red marks, which should not be scrubbed until they fall off on their own, and they will stay on the skin some 5 to 10 days.
- An after-care cream is available from your clinician to apply for a couple of days after the procedure.
- The day following the procedure the treatment area is swollen. The swelling start going down two days after the procedure, and depending on the person's health and metabolism, may dissipate by the end of that day or on the third day after the procedure.
- The only down-time after the procedure is the marks on the face and some swelling on days 2 and 3.
- The crust will fall off by day 5 - 10. Texture may remain for up to 3 months.
- Visible results continue improving up to 12 weeks after the procedures, and complete collagen remodeling continues for a full year.
- Skin on the body takes longer to heal than the face.
- A tinted medical moisturizer may be provided by your clinician for use during the immediate healing phase.
Results are as permanent, cumulative, as and comparable to those of a surgical lift or an ablative laser skin resurfacing. Results are, of course, still subject to natural aging, sun exposure, etc.
Collagen Therapy vs Microneedling
- Collagen Therapy mechanically and permanently tightens skin.
- Microneeding cannot shrink excess, sagging skin.
- Collagen Therapy results are instant, and increase over time.
- Microneedling results are visible after one month, and increase over time.
- Collagen Therapy is completely non-invasive, it does not draw blood.
- Microneedling Causes controlled bleeding and bruising. Higher risk.
- Both can target individual wrinkles or small regions.
- Microneedling is better suited to larger regions than Collagen Therapy.
- Both are good at targeting deep wrinkles.
- Collagen therapy is better at targeting loose skin in small areas (ie: under eye bags)
- Microneedling is better for extremely deep, individual wrinkles.
- Collagen therapy has very limited down time (limited to a few days if that).
- Microneedling can result in localized redness that may last for a week, or in some cases can be prolonged.
- Collagen Therapy costs approx 2x cost of Mesotherapy in similar-sized region.
- Microneedling requires many more sessions, and more time between sessions, over a much longer time for a good result than Collagen Therapy.
Chemical Peels, Microneedling and Collagen Therapy all work well in tandem, and compliment one another! For all over improvement in skin texture, tone, wrinkles, scars , sun damage, and tightening.
